Climate Tech Trends for 2023 - Westly
According to The Westly Group, there are 10 top trends to look out for in 2023 in the world of climate tech.
Notable among them are #5 ♻️ Circular Economy & Reverse Logistics and #7 🚢 Supply Chain & Logistics.
The circular economy is something we believe strongly about here at Ravel, for obvious reasons. It is not lost on us that the spikes and dips in commodity prices around the world in 2022 caused a lot of grief and challenges for many manufacturers, with ripple effects hitting all the way out to brands and eventually on to their end customers. While Ravel’s operations are not completely insulated form the greater world, our ability to source consistent feedstocks of waste textiles gives us a leg up on fluctuations and uncertainty that come with reliance on global commodities.
Likewise, Ravel’s model designed around local production offers a buffer to some of the disruptions the world felt this past year (and years) due to regional conflicts (the invasion of Ukraine) and global catastrophes such as the pandemic. Localizing materials sources offers a buffer to otherwise unreliable production and transportation timelines associated with global supply chains.
We believe that there are many things to learn still about what model could eventually help build a sustainable future for materials for the textile supply chain, and would love to collaborate with anyone interested in partnering to help build a more reliable and transparent future that can successfully serve the needs of brands and municipalities while respecting the long term sustainability of our climate.
